Relational EMDR Therapy℠ as the Bridge from Treatment to Transformation

If you are someone who has experienced trauma, or perhaps is dealing with anxiety or depression, then you know how difficult it can be to open up and talk about your feelings. It can often be difficult to find a therapist you can trust and connect with who will help you navigate through your struggles. This is why we’re excited to share with you the benefits of Relational EMDR therapy℠. This innovative approach to psychotherapy helps bridge the gap between treatment and transformation by helping clients find safety, acceptance, and hope in their journey towards healing.

What is EMDR Therapy?

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is an evidence-based therapy that has been proven effective in treating post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and other psychological issues related to unresolved traumatic experiences. It works by engaging both sides of the brain while focusing on disturbing memories. This helps the brain reprocess traumatic memories so they can be stored in a more adaptive way, allowing individuals to move forward in their healing journey without being held back by painful memories or negative beliefs about themselves.

How is Relational EMDR Therapy Different?

Relational EMDR Therapy℠ combines aspects of traditional Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy with attachment theory, allowing us to focus on any issues of relational trauma that may have been inflicted on us throughout our life. Traditional EMDR focuses primarily on resolving past traumas by desensitizing them in order to allow for more positive future experiences. However, because complex developmental trauma is a problem that is not due to discrete, single-event traumas, this approach alone may not always be enough. Relational EMDR is another model of EMDR that can be used for more complex developmental trauma.

How Does It Work?

Relational EMDR Therapy ℠ uses the relationship between the therapist and the patient as a central element to help people who struggle with low self-esteem, relationships, and self-regulation. By doing so, we can uncover new insights into ourselves that will lead towards improved self-awareness and improved communication skills. These improved skills can ultimately lead towards healthier relationships down the road. Relational EMDR Therapy ℠ is focused on an interpersonal relationship between client and therapist.

From Treatment to Transformation

Relational EMDR Therapy℠ provides a bridge from treatment into transformation for trauma survivors, patients with anxiety or depression, and anyone else looking for healing potential within themselves—creating calm, acceptance and hope along the way. Through this approach that combines traditional Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy methods with relationship-based theories—we are able to address both physical & emotional aspects of trauma while providing a space for clients to take control over their own lives and find healthy ways of forming meaningful relationships once again.
